Borne from a split with another local roller derby league, the Renegade Rollergirls were formed in the summer/fall of 2004. The girls of Renegade wanted a faster-paced style of play with no penalties to slow down the action. Instead, their game highlights their skaters' skills and allows the audience to see some of the "outlawed" moves other leagues would penalize for. Including, but not limited to jumps, slides, various whips and tackles—it's a full contact game not for the faint of heart. The result is one of the most exciting roller derby leagues in the nation!

While primarily a flat track league, the Renegade Rollergirls' motto is "Any Surface, Any Time"—meaning games have been played on in parking lots, tennis courts, concrete, Fremont Street in Las Vegas, and on the banked tracks of old-school roller derby in Austin, TX and Las Vegas. Die hard fans may even remember they had a banked track shipped out to play an expo for DeVry University!

The Renegade Rollergirls have been featured on the A & E series Rollergirls, ESPN's Sportscenter, Channel 3's The Positive Side of Sports, as well in as numerous print ads. Now The Renegade Rollergirls are taking the nation by storm with sister leagues in Bend, OR, San Diego, CA, and Southern California. In addition to their current leagues, they've received inquiries on how to become "Renegade" from as far away as Canada and Alaska!

Their next game will be held at their home the Marr Imperial Properites Event Center on Oct. 11th. If you've checked out roller derby in AZ and haven't seen the Renegades, YOU ARE MISSING OUT!

nice collection

ICSYB - If you woke up tomorrow to find that the dead had risen and you could only use one weapon to defend yourself, what would you use?

KC Karrnage – A Glock G18C fully automatic handgun...have you seen this thing? It's AWESOME! Courtney - A gas lawnmower.

pulling hair!Kat-A-Strophic – I would totally use a sweet Samurai sword! It won't get dull quickly and gives you enough distance, so, you don't have to get too close... See, if you used a shot gun, you'd waste valuable time reloading it--and they could totally attack you while you are reloading it!

T Wrexxx - My wits of course!! I have Delicious!an endless supply of ammo…that aside; Resident Evil has taught me that the shotgun is pretty effective for zombie killing. Although, it's not really practical for running and shooting, nothing blows the lid off a zombie quite like one of those double barreled delights…

Night Mar – A machete.

Angelethal - Besides scathing tongue lashings, I would have to use my fists of fury; they're like Incredible Hulk fists, only better!

ICSYB - Name your top 5 horror/sci-fi movies of all time:

Hellbent Heather - Labyrinth, Rear Window, Psycho, The Dark Crystal, North by Northwest

Night Mar!Angelethal - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre OG version - You just can't go wrong with the way that movie is filmed. I love every grainy minute! The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 - This one is just hilarious! Leatherface in love, sigh... The Bad Seed - It doesn't get much scarier than a little girl in a frilly dress that beats the handyman to death with tap shoes. The Shining - hasn't every kid had an imaginary friend that lives in their mouth? Carrie - Retribution on high school douche bags everywhere.

T Wrexxx - Watcher in the Woods—totally scary Disney movie with Bettie Davis. I saw this at YMCA summer camp when I was a kid and it really creeped me out. Alien—do I really need to explain this one? Poltergeist—I dig it when you think everything has settled down and then the shirt really hits the fan! Dead Alive—Zombies and high Cupcakes rulepowered lawn care equipment. Did I mention it's a love story? Cabin Fever—I love this movie. I'm not really sure what it is; my crush on Eli Roth, the humor, the gore, the absurdity of it all…

Kat- A-Strophic - The Masque of the Red Death, Army of Darkness, Candyman, Evil Dead, Nightmare on Elm St.

ICSYB - If you were to have a part in a spooky movie, would you want to play the role of the villian, or as the victim?

Hellbent Heather– The victim who turns out to BE the villain.

KC Karrnage - I scream really well...BUT, I want to kill those sex-addict teens with their smoking & drinking—always up to no-good. They get what they deserve!

Courtney - Serial killer.

Night Mar– The villain.

ICSYB - If you could pick any celebrity you would like to see slaughtered beyond recognition in a horror flick who would you choose and why?

That is the evil eye!Angelethal - I'd like to see the judges of the American Idol-esque shows get trapped in their respective arenas, and then eaten alive by all the unfortunates they dismissed for having no talent.

Courtney - Probably Paris Hilton because she's a bad influence.

Night Mar- Celine Dion; for obvious reasons...she sucks and I wish someone would off that Canadian piece of shot…

ICSYB - Say you became a creature of the night and could pick anyone you'd want to eat alive, who would you choose?

Night Mar - Danny from ICSYB because I could feed off of him for awhile…

Mirrir mirror on the wall.....ICSYB -Ha ha, Remember that one when I hide my dirty socks under your pillow case........

KC Karrnage - Tommy Chong; on the off chance it'll work like the brownies do…

Angelethal - Based solely on looks, I'd pick Zac Efron. He looks tasty! For practical reasons, I'd pick a portly chef like Mario Battali; he'd last a long time and could tell you how to season him properly.

ICSYB - Do you prefer the slow moving zombies of yesteryear or the quick fast paced zombies of today?

Hellbent Heather - Slow, I'm a fan of tradition.

hahaKat-A-Strophic - The zombies of yesteryear seem to be more accurate to me--not to say that the zombies of today are horrible or anything!

T Wrexxx - Slow moving zombies are much more entertaining—zombies on PCP are more threatening and scary though…

ICSYB - What film would you say is one of the scariest you have ever seen and how did it affect you?

KC Karrnage – The Amityville Horror scared the shit out of me...I was taken to the theater to see it when I was about 5yrs old...we lived in an old Victorian home in Michigan that looked just like their house, and we had bats in the basement....so I was sure that pig thing with the glowing powerhousered eyes was going to come out of my closet & get me for at least 2 years....I slept with a night light until I was 11 because of that! P.S...I love my dad for exposing me to horror my ENTIRE life!!

Courtney - Lon Chaney in The Phantom of the Opera terrified me and gave me a new perspective on horror movies.

Kat-A-Strophic – Ok, well, I am going to go with…Nightmare on Elm Street...I was 9 years old and my older sister was watching it...which she wasn't supposed to be...and I saw Johnny Depp's character get sucked into the bed and then all the blood shot out...yeah, 9 years old, I didn't sleep in my bed for like 2 months!

ICSYB - Which monster/villian do you like the most?

Hellbent Heather - He's not a tradition villain, but I love Vincent Price. How can you not love him? He was the voice of Thriller!

Night Mar – Frankenstein.

T Wrexxx- Dracula's got it goin' ON—he can turn into a bat, and has that accent—I'm a sucker (hah!) for smooth talkers! But, I have to say I'm going with the Wolfman; I live with him and I don't need him cranky.

Tan's the man!

ICSYB - What horror/thriller movie would you like to see them remake and bring to the big screen?

Hellbent Heather – 'The Creature from the Black Lagoon', with the improvements in SFX makeup that could be really bad ass!

KC Karrnage- I don't think it should be a remake, but I would enjoy a new spin on the werewolves idea; good story, great special effects as they morph, fantastic gore to follow....who could ask for anything more?

Angelethal – Mostly, I say leave well enough alone, but if I have to choose, I'd say 'Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?' I think the psychological torture updated to present day would be pretty rad!
