From The Artic With Love. The Thing Comes To Tempe

Brandon Awesomest - Friday, October 7, 2011

John Carpenter’s 1982 remake of The Thing is undoubtedly one of my all time favorite films, so thusly the forthcoming prequel/ remake of his legendary film is one of mine (as well as many many others) most anticipated horror films of 2011. The reboot of this classic film (also tilted The Thing) hits theaters on Friday October 14th, for those lucky enough to be in the Phoenix metro area, we here at I Can Smell Your Brains are giving away exclusive VIP passes to a 7PM screening Tuesday, October 11th @ Harkins Tempe Marketplace Theaters. Only 5 sets (each admits 2) of VIP reserved seating passes are available. There is certainly scores of you that want to attend this screening so the 5 lucky winners will be chosen at random on Monday, October 10th. We want the most hard core of hard core fans to attend this screening so in order to enter the contest for the seats you have to answer the following trivia question to be in the running for the VIP seats… here is the question:

John Carpenter’s 1982 The Thing had a completely male cast and a nearly completely male crew. The only female featured in the film was a voice on MacReady’s chess computer. What actress’s voice was used in this classic film?

Send your answer to this trivia question to brainscontest@gmail.com along with your full name. If you and answer correctly and are lucky enough to be drawn, you will be seeing The Thing as a VIP before everybody else and will be sure to make all of your friends super jealous. Good luck and get your entries in! Trailer and synopsis below.

Antarctica: an extraordinary continent of awesome beauty. It is also home to an isolated outpost where a discovery full of scientific possibility becomes a mission of survival when an alien is unearthed by a crew of international scientists. The shape-shifting creature, accidentally unleashed at this marooned colony, has the ability to turn itself into a perfect replica of any living being. It can look just like you or me, but inside, it remains inhuman. In the thriller THE THING, paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet. Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime. Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago. But it is about to wake up. When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate must join the crew’s pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from killing them off one at a time. And in this vast, intense land, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish.
